Club Background
Prime Bangkok FC has a relatively long and interesting history. Originally formed as Bangkok North Central ASSN, they were placed in the second-tier Thailand Division 1 League. Their debut season ended in relegation to the third-tier Division 2, at North Bangkok University Stadium. The club was shifted sideways into Division 2 Bangkok in 2009.
They changed their name to North-Sarawitaya FC and finished bottom of the table at Queen Sirikit's 60th Anniversary Stadium. They then became North-Central in 2010, playing at the 72nd Anniversary Stadium in Minburi as the club missed a season before returning in 2012 to the same competition, this time as Central Lions. They used three home venues in a season that ended in relegation.

On the Move
In 2016, the club reformed as Air Force Central Robinson and played at Ratchakram Stadium in Ayutthaya province. Patcharapon Usmali's goals helped the team to promotion after winning their section of the Thailand Amateur League in 2017.
The Prime Bangkok Years
Further Thai football restructuring followed, with a place in Thai League 3 Bangkok Region being awarded. Moussa Abakar led the scoring for the club now called Prime Bangkok, which finished fifth in 2020-21.
Pandemic Problems
Jatuporn Pramolbal was head coach before stepping back to become club manager. Chaiporn Ngampravatdee, and later in the season, Wajee Kertsombun took on the role during difficult times for Thai football’s lower reaches, under COVID-19 restrictions.
Prime played home games behind closed doors, first at Kasem Bundit Stadium and then at Thai-Japanese Stadium, eventually finishing seventh with Japanese forward Omae So supplying the goals.

Thidarat Wiwasuku took charge when Tishan Tajahni Hanley top-scored. Prime had to play home games at Kasem Bundit Stadium, and then Thonburi Stadium before Ramkhamhaeng University Stadium became available again.
New head coach Thanyaphon Khlaykam was replaced by Jatuporn Pramolbal in a team that saw Chawanwit Sealao top-scoring. A move to Boonyachinda Stadium followed in the summer of 2024, as tenants of Police Tero, with Prime adopting the same kit as their landlords
This was to host action in the Thai League 3 Central Region as Thanyaphon returned to coach the side. Jutaporn Pramolbal was appointed as head coach for the 2025-26 campaign, as Prime followed Police Tero to NT Stadium. His team reached the playoffs but fell short of promotion. They returned to Boonyachinda Stadium for the new campaign.
My visits
The hosts went 1-0 up after the half-hour mark once they'd grown into the game and threatened to take the lead. They did so through the extremely impressive Chawanit Saelao, who Marco commented had been the star man when he saw them in action the previous season.
At the interval, we adjourned out the back after the man on the PA decided to outdo the fans by playing music at full blast. We nattered while finishing the beers before returning to see a polished home performance.
Dominant Home Performance
This game proved an easy victory for league leader Prime, against a basic side who remained bottom of the table. I enjoyed the club's new surroundings at NT Stadium in Lak Si, on a warm afternoon.
The home side did the hard work in the first half, wearing down the dogged visitors. Omid Popalzay in the nineteenth minute and Kittiporn Chueachil five minutes before the interval were the goalscorers.
Play stopped halfway through each half so the players and officials could have a drink. An alcohol-free afternoon for me, so I’m not sure whether they sold from a limited range at a desk behind the main stand. I knew I would have plenty of drinks the following day.
NT impressed after being tarted up. It had its own SkyTrain station. It was the new home for Police Tero and Prime from the start of the 2025-26 season, and had seen an admirable makeover since my last visit in 2015, when I saw a Port FC win, which wasn't enough to save them from relegation against the now-defunct TOT SC.
A nice, easy trip for me by public transport. I took the overhead MRT Pink Line train and a bus home, buying good local food from a cart at the end of the road near our condo. A strange sort of day, with no football action on TV to occupy the evening.

Thai League Cup 1st Round Qualifiers - Saturday 31st August 2024
It was the final day of the latest trip to stay at our condo north of Minburi in the capital, and I was on the lookout for a game. My options were watching Prime in action in a home game for the first time or watching Customs United take on BFB Pattaya in the same competition.
Prime swung it for me with their 3pm kickoff, rather than Customs later start, and because my mate Marco, another groundhopper from the UK, was going to be in attendance. My original lunchtime appointment in Chachoengsao sealed it, especially as my wife offered to drop me near the Minburi monorail station.

My original lunchtime appointment in Chachoengsao sealed it, especially as my wife offered to drop me near the Minburi monorail station.
A Hot Walk
After grabbing some food and putting my inexpensive mini cool bag to good use carrying small cans of beer for later, I set off, slightly underestimating how long the journey would take. In hindsight, I was ambitious to walk from Lak Si station to the stadium in the hot weather.
The Tero team bus passed me as it headed to their evening game at Ayutthaya United, while I wandered around to the main stand. It was the only open part of the ground. The teams lined up for the King’s Anthem as I walked up the steps.

The Match
My pal Marco had chosen a good view near the back in the section I’d watched a couple of Tero games from. The view was fine, but the rather portly, out-of-tune drummers created a real cacophony, which made conversation difficult.
Saraburi took the early initiative, forcing Phijak Donwithai, in goal for Prime, into a fine save before creating another good half-chance. I expected the visitors to win, on little more evidence than them being a bigger provincial club. How little I knew.

Four minutes after the break, Aekkaphong Phlmankasemsri pounced on a weak back pass, rounded goalie Ittikorn Kularb, to roll the ball into the empty net. From then on, Saraburi struggled.
They thought they'd scored, but Santiago Corral, a giant forward, saw his header ricochet off a combination of woodwork and the keeper, with the linesman claiming that the ball stayed out. It’s fair to say that the Argentinian saw things differently.
That was as good as it would get for his side, with Chawanit adding the third twelve minutes from time with a fine finish. We didn’t wait for both sides to applaud their opponents. We had more enjoyable plans to execute, which began with an entertaining walk through the communities to Bang Bua station.
I had suggested we say our farewells for a few months over a couple of beers. Marco didn't disagree. The issue, as ever, was finding a nearby bar in a district that had previously drawn up blanks. We crossed the busy main road but found nothing.

That was until we ventured down the narrow soi, Phahon Yothin 46 and spotted a bar down an alley and another open-fronted establishment on the corner, with wooden chairs and stools. It was my perfect kind of bar. We watched the bustling street life while we enjoyed cold beers.
We added it for future reference, especially because it showed the early kick-off from the UK, had great background music and a young, happy client base. When we were done, I grabbed some chicken from a stall to eat at home and took a couple of SkyTrains and a taxi.
It had been another wonderful few hours of enjoyment, seeing new places and being entertained. My app said I’d walked over 10km, which certainly explained why I slept so well before our ten-hour meandering journey back to Sisaket the following day.
